A MOBILE APP THAT EASES THE PROCESS OF CITY PARKING

GoPark is designed to help users find efficient parking within the busy downtown area. This app obtains data from garages using a sensor-based parking guidance system and provides the most appealing experience for the user in terms of price, availability, and distance. Once the user chooses their garage, they can reserve a spot through the app allowing for the utmost convenience.

User Problem

Driving in Downtown Seattle in general can be challenging with the busy streets. So, searching for parking at the same time can be pretty hectic. You look for whatever parking you can, park at a "$25 all day" parking garage, just to walk by a cheaper parking garage on the way to your location.

How can we make the experience of looking for parking downtown both time and cost efficient?

HUMAN RESEARCH

Driving in Downtown Seattle in general can be challenging with the busy streets. So, searching for parking at the same time can be pretty hectic. You look for whatever parking you can, park at a "$25 all day" parking garage, just to walk by a cheaper parking garage on the way to your location. The intended audience for this app was for people who commonly visit the busy downtown area, but do not live in the area.

After interviewing college students, the SAM, Seattle Center, Capitol Hill, and Pike Place were common areas they would like to visit, all in the downtown area.

SKETCHES

The sketches demonstrate the screens of the map of one's current location and the screens for when the user chooses their picked parking garage. I chose color to be the main representation of the differentiation between parking availability.

Final Product

For my final product, the color palette was revised in order to increase contrast and to support readability. The filtered menu was revised to a dial menu for easier navigation. Information on availability, the user's parking, and an option to pay ahead of time was also added. The user is able to quickly find the parking that best suits their needs and has all the payment and information in one app.
